Not just because we won big, but I had the best time at the game tonight. I saw immense physical talent giving tons of effort and within a structure that allowed that talent to shine.
I don't think UTA is as bad as we made them look, but I'd be surprised if they were a .500 team this year.
Cisse was a treat to watch. He worked very hard in the post and had great position most of the night. We missed a bunch of opportunities to pass the ball into the post, but that can be said about almost every team in the nation. I just wish we made it more of an emphasis with Cisse and Ka.Boone in there this year.
I loved the hustle all night. We just overwhelmed them with speed and quickness on defense.
Ke. Boone had a completely different energy and confidence than I've ever seen from him. If he can play every game with that attitude and effort, he will make us much better.
A.A. was really good, as expected. He was in complete control of his game.
I think Ice was happy to be back as the leader of the team. He talked and directed all night. I wish he had a better outside shot and he could be a great player. As it is, he is still a very good player.
Speaking of players talking on defense, this team was really communicating tonight. That is a very positive sign.
Bryce Thompson was a bit hesitant and somewhat lost early on. He got much better as the game went on, but he has work to do on the defensive end.
D.Williams played well. He was under control and made good decisions. He is much improved.
MAM showed signs of being a super star. He just needs to harness things a bit. He made a couple of moves around the goal that very few people can pull off.
The bench was into the game all night. A great sign for the team was they way they reacted to Sager and Church. They were going nuts. Ke. Boone was one of the best. He was on the floor with them and he gave both big hugs and genuinely cared about them.
In short, such a fun night and so glad I got to go. This team deserves our support. If you get a chance to go, you should. The atmosphere was good, and the basketball talent we have is excellent.
