Oh puh lease! I guess we are going to ignore the “it’s not how much you mow fast it’s how fast you mow much” campaign? That’s worth 24% right there.

@iasooner1 who is employed by John Deere in Iowa, what say you?

I kid you not I was riding in a super cab pick up somewhere around Carson Iowa. There were four dudes and two chicks and we drove by a John Deere dealership and you would have thought Marla maples was making love to the Chicago bulls the way those dudes turned and looked those tractors and implements up and down.

I know right. I'm surprised that campaign hasn't won marketing awards, pure genius!

But to get back to the article and folks who know John Deere more than I do apparently, what models of their equipment have seen a fall off in demand? These are pretty large purchases and the means to purchase a product of this nature is high. Maybe John Deere should look into other markets to sell their products? Maybe discontinue models that aren't highly in demand? Maybe their products are just priced too high?

Honestly, who has more information to help with all these questions I have?!

Of course implementing tariffs are going to screw with the market, but for those who solely blame the failure of a company or decrease in demand to one factor isn't a smart business person and problem solver.

Globally profit was just over 5% for JD worldwide (something like 1.25 Billion) for the latest quarter. It's late and I'll find the story tomorrow, maybe. I have to check & see if it's kosher for me to share so I don't have to kill you all and then myself, first

Weird story, but I would think John Deere would gain more benefit from the protectionism of the tariffs here in the US vs. the impact of tariffs imposed against them and farmers in general as retaliation by China. I also would note that the story's premise is that predictions were lowered. These are projections of what some think the tariffs might do. They aren't a measure of what John Deere has already felt, and thus far, the predictions of doom and gloom that have surrounded the prior tariff announcements, frankly, haven't come to fruition.
