Here’s some information about our trade with Mexico since NAFTA was born.Sorry, don't get on much on the weekends. But as I said, I fully agree that a full retreat from NAFTA is a negative for all involved. However, the agreement could do more to ensure near equal trade between regions which it doesn't.
Sorry, sometimes my OCD kicks in and I don’t know when or how to stop. I appreciate your patience!I understand the numbers. I'd note that not one of the many "save NAFTA" links actually highlights the value of what those countries are buying from us? When we send 284 Billion to Mexico via imports, how much are they sending back? If they were buying our products and services equally (or closely) then I would be all for NAFTA. If they bought our products too, then its a 'trade' and the actual markets actually grow. But right now the trade is simple....we trade away American jobs for lower prices.

I think you are misrepresenting the attitude of the articles. None of them constitute hysteria. I’m the hysterical one. You are transposing my attitude on them. I appreciate that we can have a civil conversation without the name calling that so often raises it’s ugly head on this board. Thank you for being civil! Its all good. We are a lot alike in many ways. We just disagree on this topic (and not significantly). You are for total open trade, and I'm for open, but balanced trade. My biggest issue is that many of the articles you've posted have gone hysterical and assume because Trump shifted slightly towards protectionist trade practices (the pair of tarriffs enacted), he's on his way to completely eliminating NAFTA (never gonna happen) and closing our borders to trade completely or that he's on the verge of starting an international trading war with both China and Europe. I'm tired of the media (simply because they don't like Trump) extrapolating to the worst possible conclusion the same actions that every President before him had done.
