All guides within one hour of my place. Super easy to hit multiple rivers/fisheries in one trip. Guide services are approximately $200/day plus tips, licenses, etc per person for 2 people. Also, I think we could probably cheapen that price up some if we did 2 or 3 days of fishing with one guide service. I think a 3 day trip where we did a back country hike/fish 1 day, float 1 day, and private water or lake 1 day trip would be a dream set up. Most of those will be best if we wait until August or September.

I'm totally game for this if we want to make a real effort to put a trip together, but I'll need a lot of notice so I can get it scheduled.

A little late to the thread, but if anybody ends up in northern California, I would gladly spend a day or three chasing trout. Upper Sac, McCloud, Hat Creek, etc. Tons of trout water and SMB water too though I don't really target them. I also have a drift boat so drifting the Lower Sacramento is an option and the Trinity as well during steelhead season.

Travel is the one reason I would opt for a 4 pc. rod regardless of species. Easy to pack and can be carried on. Also, The Fly Shop in Redding has combo outfits that are nice for the price and come with good fly line. Cheap fly lines suck.
