Just listened to the chairman of the selection committee say something like a win in November is the same as a win in March. Let's take that logic to an extreme and see if it holds up and would be what most fans would hope happens during the selection process.
What is a team won their first 18 games and beat 4 or 5 very highly ranked teams but lost their last 14 games? According to the chairman the criteria they used that team's record is 18 - 14 with 4 or 5 high quality wins. But common sense and I think most fans expectations would be yes let's look at the season but there should be an attempt to select the teams that look to be the best during the last 25 - 50% of the season. This could be stated at the beginning of the season put into a formula with a 60/40 or 70/30 emphasis on the latter part of the season.
