As most of us remember, when Ford was hired, there was quite a bit of backlash. The reasons for this probably vary depending on who you talk to .
-Ford wasn't Eddie Sutton
-Ford wasn't a "defense first" guy
-Ford didn't have enough skins on the wall.
-Ford wasn't Bill Self
-Ford was too serious and not a schmoozer
-Multiple others
The end result, was that many OSU fans wanted him gone the moment he was hired. Obviously, his results were not good enough to win anyone over, and he managed to lose those fans that were willing to give him a chance. But, his tenure was contentious, with many fans expressing their dislike for the coach.
Fast forward to today.
It seems that there are some fans who are (understandably) down on Boynton as the HC.
-He's not Brad Underwood
-He's not Bill Self
-He's not Doug G
-He has minimal skins on the wall
-He was Holder's choice and everyone is currently pissed at Holder
From reading the boards, some fans are not on board with this hire. Will those fans give him a chance to prove himself? I suspect that if he has success, everyone will get on board. Hope that he is given a fair shake. It is not his fault that he is the guy we ended up with. Maybe those of you who are dubious will be pleasantly surprised
