Yeah, nothing to see here. Facebook is concerned for your privacy.

Fallacious to believe this makes any real difference. As a cyber-security analyst, I elected to not have a Facebook account. I foresaw their issues.
Maybe not. Google tracks me I'm sure. My ISP is almost assuredly being monitored by the NSA.Fallacious to believe this makes any real difference.
Facebook stalker? I'm not the guy who stalks teenage boys claiming to be someone who can help them get college scholarships. "Player Performance Specialist." Riiight.Lol...funny you talking about Facebook, being a Facebook stalker and all...
Like this board? Or is Verizon somehow immune from this thesis? But, if you aren't paying for the service (Facebook), you ARE the service.
I understand that Facebook isn’t the only way to have our privacy violated, but are you ok with Facebook having medical records?Like this board? Or is Verizon somehow immune from this thesis?
I suspect there is much more to mine here than Facebook ever exposed. As well, scraping/crawling this site is trivial compared to the getting access to the now deprecated Graph API used by the likes of CA.
This entire brouhaha with Facebook and "stealing" of data starts and stops with Facebook. They placed the tools in their program which allowed anyone smart enough to use them to "steal" the data. The pathway to access the data were in the "on" position as the default setting. As with the hospitals above, Facebook encouraged people to put as much information about themselves on their site with the express purpose of extrapolating the information for their gain. I'm sure these are not the only questionable uses of data we will learn about Facebook.
It's all on Facebook notwithstanding their desire to point fingers of blame elsewhere.

Since I pay a subscription to Rivals, I expect more privacy than those who don't. Absolutely.
Because I expect them to not shove advertising at me like they do you. As such, there is no reason to be inspecting my cookies or other history. How does being subscribed versus not being subscribed to Rivals lead you to believe you’re safer on here? Really?

I am an old man that simply does not understand what the Facebook controversy is about. What has Facebook done that has people so upset? This is a sincere question. All that computer/internet crap has shot way over my head. What has people so upset? What did Facebook do? Can you give a simplified explanation?Since I pay a subscription to Rivals, I expect more privacy than those who don't. Absolutely.
It is all about reducing your exposure. I think Facebook has a ton of data that you are giving them to use their platform. If I can reduce the attack surface, then I'm less at risk.
Yes in the big picture, there are many things out of my control. But, I can control some things. Namely, my choice to not use Facebook.
Huh? You think their advertising model is any different? That’s a very naive position, DChi. If anything, you may be getting MORE ads as a subscriber.
I can tell you having been a no sub for months now...I don’t see very many ads on here. At all.

Maybe not. But I also use private browsing, application and home firewalls, add blockers and a personal VPN client. I also stick to a pretty select set of sites and am cautious about what data I put out there.
You don't know wtf you're talking about.
I've tried. You're broken.
A truly informative and open-ended, thought-provoking response haha.
I'm not in the habit of throwing good money after bad.
So, you just have no substance whatsoever lol. No actual argument to the topic at hand haha. Shocking.
No toon, I'm saying it wouldn't stick.
Completely full of shit and afraid to admit it. Lol...got it 100
Not really worried about it. The notion of privacy has forever changed. The sooner people accept and adapt to that the better.I understand that Facebook isn’t the only way to have our privacy violated, but are you ok with Facebook having medical records?

This very thread has been indexed dozens of times since you posted. The content is searchable by anyone. You have zero privacy on this board.Since I pay a subscription to Rivals, I expect more privacy than those who don't. Absolutely.

What a fvcking terrible comment. Not really worried about it. The notion of privacy has forever changed. The sooner people accept and adapt to that the better.
Facebook allowed developers of software for their platform access to data where users consented to that access. If you have used the platform, you consent to such things frequently. When you "log in with Facebook" you are doing just this. In technical terms this is a three legged oauth(authorization) flow.I am an old man that simply does not understand what the Facebook controversy is about. What has Facebook done that has people so upset? This is a sincere question. All that computer/internet crap has shot way over my head. What has people so upset? What did Facebook do? Give up? No. Control what I can reasonably control? Yes. Worried about basic health data "leaking" ? No, you can get most of that already with little effort. What a fvcking terrible comment.
It’s changed, true, but you just give up?
I suppose you feel the same way about guns then, huh? There are 300 million out there, sooner you can accept it, the better.

This is a very good point. However, I’m interested in minimizing my footprint in this new world whatever that means. Not really worried about it. The notion of privacy has forever changed. The sooner people accept and adapt to that the better.
Was that the day the national debt became to biggest concern to national security? Or maybe the day that Clinton tax increases boomed the economy?Lol...October 26, 2001.

As you should, just realize that the info contemplated to be gathered in this study is readily deducible from many different sources and is such basic info that it would not as I understand it be of much value. This is a very good point. Sure. That’s why Facebook wanted it.As you should, just realize that the info contemplated to be gathered in this study is readily deducible from many different sources and is such basic info that it would not as I understand it be of much value.
