Express Jets, used solely by United Airlines, announces it's shutting down Sept 30. If you've been on a United flight on a RJ it was probably operated by Express Jets. It's a combo reason...United said they were going to use a different company (Commute Air) and the COVID19 issues. United owns 40% of Commute Air. Sept 30 is when the money for the airlines runs out. 3,000 employees with no where to go. And, Express Jets had commitments on 36 ERJ 145's (50 seat RJ) which will also go away. If the gov't doesn't extend the money beyond Oct 1st the airlines will be shedding 80,000 jobs. No way the gov't doesn't extend the money but will politics get in the way. The dems would love for some more issues to develop. The trickle down effect from the airline industry going south would be a huge issue.
