The recycling program in ultra liberal Jackson Hole is equally as spectacular. Diesel pickup truck pulls a trailer containing several bins. Truck makes turn, guns it to get into traffic flow, spews black smoke, turns onto side street. Parks. Engine still running. Dude bails out of truck to gather contents of curbside bins placed out for collection. Truck still running. Dude brings plastics back to bin. Truck still running. Dude puts glass into bins and aluminum into bins. Truck still running.

Dude gets back into truck. Next bins 100 feet away. Dude drives ahead. More black smoke. Dude collects more stuff, sorts into bins, truck still running. Etc, etc, etc.

By the end of the day, 30 gallons of diesel fuel has been expended in order to reclaim 2 pints of oil from used plastic. Solid win for the environment.
