have it drive you crazy until you figure it out where you know them from?

Was watching In the Heat of the Night (1967, great movie featuring Sidney Poitier and Rod Steiger) and there is a couple of scenes where the Sheriff (Steiger) catches a suspect for a murder, who was carrying the victim's wallet. Later the Poitier character (Tibbs) carries on a conversation with him and takes some evidence (nail scrapings) off the guy. The Sheriff was convinced of his guilt, but Tibbs figures out that he couldn't have been the killer. The prisoner/suspect looked so familiar but I couldn't quite put my finger on it.....

Kept watching those scenes with this "knowing" feeling that I know that actor from some place else and then after about 30 minutes, light bulb goes off and I figure it out....Scott Wilson (in his film debut). You likely know him better as Dr. Herschel Green from Walking Dead (Maggie's Dad). Perhaps even John Lyons from Damien, or maybe even Bosch.

Jammin,

Wanted to figure it out on my own, trying to keep my mind from atrophying.
Wasn't quite at the point of stopping the show and heading off to the computer to look it up on IMDB. By the time I had concluded it was who I thought, I did confirm using IMDB, that's how I found out that this was his acting debut.

Had the same thing happen watching The Right Stuff, and the actor was a younger, beardless Scott Wilson. He played the pilot that was in competition with Chuck Yeager in setting flight records early in the movie.

Is Bosch any good? I've read all the Michael Connelly novels but don't have an amazon prime account so haven't gotten around to watching it yet?

There's been two Bosch seasons and I've liked them quite a bit. They had to change a few things (like moving Bosch's military experience from Vietnam to the first gulf war) but Connelly is on board as a producer and has quite a bit of say in things reportedly.

Both seasons, 10 episodes each, cover a couple of books basically.
Season 1 has elements from Echo Park, City of Bones and Concrete Blonde. Season 2 was concentrated on Trunk Music (the first Bosch book I read) but had some elements from his other books incorporated.

Personally, I've always like Titus Welliver and he was a good choice to be cast as Bosch. Welliver is one of those unlucky actors that shows up in a series, only to have the series wrap-up or get cancelled. NYPD Blue, Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy, and Lost, are just a few of the shows where he's had regular work, but the shows were on the way out when he arrived.

I guess if you were going to set the series totally in present day you would have to make him a lot younger. The book Bosch is pushing seventy. So much is his personality and the culture of the books are based on his Vietnam experience, the time he grew up in and the current events of each book. I'll try to check it out soon.
