I know there's obviously been some disappointment with how things have looked early on and heck even I'm a little disappointed with how we've looked at times. I really was hoping for a little more but it's hardly anything that I'm going to freak out about. I hoped MS would improve and just play more minutes and stop fouling so much, that hasn't happened yet. Still way too many dumb fouls 30 ft from the basket. On the offensive side of things I just think it's a matter of our guys still thinking way too much instead of just reacting and moving as one. If you've ever installed a new offense at any level of basketball it just always seems to take months for it to work. This is one thing I'm not too worried about. Now if it's late January and our guys are still clueless then count me in with the really concerned group.

Defensively I see what we are trying to do but it's only partially working. We are putting more pressure on folks, which is getting us more turnovers and more transition scoring chances (probably why we have scored over 100 points each game). However we are giving up a ton more easy scoring chances because of the high pressure. If you don't understand your help responsibilities you end up thinking vs reacting. With as much time as we've put on this I'd hope we'd be further along. I'm sure coach does too. Although at times we have had 4 FR on the court at the same time so it doesn't shock me when that lineup is in. The way I hope it plays out is over the next few weeks there will be plays made that are the right plays to make surrounded by plenty of old habits. Each week we will make more of those types of plays and the less of the others. It feels like we have a coach that knows what he's wanting to see and will make sure that's what we see. I have zero doubts HCBU will get what he wants out of our team.

It seems to me that HCBU does seem to be forcing the young guys to play more key minutes than what you would like to see in most games. It's going to lead to more disjointed moments than if we had Hammonds, Forte, Evans, Carroll and Shine.

We will have more disappointing days ahead with how we look but I think it will get better. It takes games to break old bad habits and we need more games. I hate that Maui is so early but all you can do is take on the challenges in front of you. I think while at UTSA last year his team got beat by 40 by Baylor but would anyone on here pick Baylor over UTSA at the end of the season? I'm looking towards the Big 12 and looking at the non con schedule as on the job training.
