Dove season

Congrats.... what part of the state did you hunt?
In the morning hunt, I got a late start and mostly went to visit with friends, but the dove had changed patterns and not many were seen on that small property. It was good getting out and catching up with with old friends though.
Saturday, I officially gave my grandson his first gun, my older Franchi 20 auto, one that my dad gave me 30 some yrs ago. Sun evening, we hunted one of my ponds by the house and my grandson, first dove hunt where he wasn't the bird dog, got 7, and we didn't have all that many flying. Watching him hit some birds...and his reaction, THAT was worth the price of admission. Some good memories made.

We had a pretty good sized group opening day and killed a good amount of birds. The three guys I sat with/close to all limited out...and I did too.
Monday morning was slower, but two other guys and myself killed 35. I am pretty sure I hit my limit.
