I'm curious: OSU hired Ford on a 10 year contract. He had had great initial success, we all worried he might leave, and we were delighted to have sown him up with the long term contract. Then he proved to be a disaster. So for several years we were stuck with him because of his buyout. But finally the buyout became tolerable and he was let go. One of my questions is what was his buyout when he was let go? Was that not the main reason we were hampered in finding a quality coach?

Then Underwood suddenly appeared on the national radar, and we were able to lure him away from his $350 +/- contract for a million, which was about all we could afford. It was a jackpot hire.

Now, a year later Underwood bolts for greener pastures, which once again puts us behind the 8 ball. We are reeling from having to buy out Ford, so there is a big budget concern in hiring someone new. But it seems I saw that Underwood's buyout is $3 million. If true does that counteract the Ford buyout and leave OSU with a larger stash with which to hire a new coach?

People worry that we will not be able to find a quality coach, but simultaneously call all coaches money whores. What makes everyone so sure we can't find a quality money whore? We were offering $2.2 million to Underwood. So we had/have at least $2.2 million, plus Underwood's $3 million in reserve. Why do so many on here think we can't find another quality money whore coach?
