Yes, exactly like that! With each incident like you have described the American people have lost another crumb of freedom. Like the frog in the boiling water we will eventually look around with puzzled faces and wonder where our freedom went. I don’t wear pearls, but if I did I would certainly be clutching them!

What I don't get, is why the Dems aren't using this to get what they actually want. Why fall on this anti-wall sword? Agree to the measily $5B but include a ton of DACA, ACA or other legislation that makes it anathema to Trump and Repubs. Trump (and the Repubs by default) have made the wall their #1 demand. Not building a wall certainly isn't the Dems' #1 Demand. Trade for what is.

Not giving Trump a “win” is the most important thing to the Dems. To be fair, that’s basically all of politics though. It’s not to get the things you want done, but to make sure the other side doesn’t get things they want done.
