"Hands down the most emotional piece of this series and arguably that I’ve ever done! This man has change the course of so many young men’s lives. I remember Coach Eddie Sutton coming to watch me practice at Waxahachie High School, my Dad cooking him FRIED CHICKEN and POTATOES at our home and hearing Coach say in that deep voice, “ Johnney, I want one of them big glasses of tea like you got!” Then after signing at OSU (@okstateu, @osumbb) in 1996 and for 4 years having him rip me a new one NO MATTER how good I played it wasn’t good enough. He always believed I had more to give the game. I couldn’t jump high enough, run fast enough, defend hard enough, be tough enough, rebound enough, score enough or lead enough. He called my dad more times than I can remember during practice, because he felt I wasn’t practicing hard enough. But, when the game was over and the practices were done he would put his arm around me because he could see I felt that I had disappointed him and would say, “ you’re gonna be a really good player Desmond, but being a good player isn’t enough. You have to be a good friend, a good leader and a good person!” I’ll never forget that! Because of the tough love you gave me coach I LOVE YOU FOREVER! You are a big part of why I’m me and will always be my best and by far my favorite coach at all levels! So I title this piece, “ You Will Never Know The Love Coach “.......
