Here’s what the Dems should do. Vote in the House to censure the president saying that they know the Republicans in the Senate won’t convict. That way they don’t put vulnerable representatives in the House at further risk of reelection.
That's exactly what a sane group would do.
These people are not sane.
Their hatred of Trump has taken their insane actions to new heights. They are willing to punish the country so long as Trump doesn't win a second term.
This out only works if you think you can beat Trump in 2020.
But I find it ironic that in one sentence she says "We need to move forward" and in another says "I don't expect anything happening before Christmas." She's trying to buy time to make sure this is the right path, because she knows its a gambit that will likely cost her the House in 2020, and in the end, won't remove Trump, but could raise enough flags to make him vulnerable (that's the hope). Its like chess though (and not the 4D variety), if you gonna sacrifice your queen, you better be sure you've got a path to checkmate, or you've done nothing but weaken your own position.
If Democrats do manage to regain power you know damn well they will take retribution against those that stood in their way. Those in government and those 63 million people that voted against them.

IF they actually impeach Trump they are in for a surprise trial in the Senate. It will be a trial of the Democrats instead of Trump. Just wait.
I would expect that Schiff and Biden get subpoena'd, the first to discuss the whistleblower interaction in advance of the submission. I'll be curious if they ask him 'on the record' if he knows who the whistleblower is.
Biden will be called to discuss how the company his son is on the board of came to be recommended by the US government to the government of Ukraine. I also think there will be real questions in regards to the formation of the Ukraine "Anti-corruption" council (or whatever its called), and the US's role and funding of it. I also think there will be questions for various Obama-era diplomats to confirm other cases where foreign aid was delayed or deferred, just to show that delaying foreign aid is actually a pretty regular happenstance.
I also think they'll subpoena Hunter Biden to have him discuss his role and timeline with the Ukrainian oil company.
In any case, if it actually gets to the Senate (I still don't think it will), it won't be a 3 day, made-for-tv show trial. It will be weeks of testimony, which will tie up Senators Sanders and Warren right in the peak of campaign season.
