surely you realize that is david's defense mechanism by now. he's a good guy so he doesn't usually get in the poop throwing contests, but it's important that he minimize anything to a conspiracy theory which suggests an unelected establishment ruling class exists and has the power to manipulate investigations, spy on political opposition at the behest of elected establishment figureheads and their shadowy puppet master overlords.

I think Deep state is a misnomer. There are those who have power and those who don't. Those who have it will do anything and everything they can to maintain it. Associating it to one party or another, or certain businesses, or othewise, is wrong.
That's where you have it wrong. The deep state infects both parties.
Different rules for them versus ordinary citizens.
200 years ago we called it tyranny.
The "Deep State" in my mind are the morons that aren't elected but have somehow been in powerful positions in numerous administrations dictating policy.
Sometimes appointed positions or people hired and put in place to run agencies knowing what the unspoken agenda is and insuring the heads of those agencies hire like minded people.
