David Mamet Is No Longer A Brain Dead Liberal

I don’t read books by fools who attempt to extol their sides’ virtues. Friedman, Hayek, etc.? How about thinking for yourself and not buying into BS

Does that mean you don’t read books? Why would anyone write a political/economic tract without intending to extol the virtues of his conclusions?

So both guys describe the process of being exposed to thoughts and ideas from across the spectrum and they describe their process of evaluating those ideas.

That literally is thinking for yourself.

Reading someone else’s thoughts isn’t independent thinking.

You’ve walked yourself down this rabbit hole and it will be interesting to see how you get out of it.

Humans are social beings; we communicate with one another regarding every aspect of our lives. Life would be lessened, probably impossible without communication between individuals. Independent thought includes examining the opinions of others and coordinating those opinions which one finds relevant to his circumstance with those opinions he already holds. You are advocating a situation in which each individual isolates himself from all others in order not to be infected with someone else’s opinion. That would mark the end of society, indeed the end of civilization.

This very board is an example of individuals sharing their opinions in an attempt to implement that coordination, an attempt to increase their knowledge and understanding of the world around them. One can’t help but wonder why you participate if you desire to practice your version of “independent thinking.”

Posting what someone else thinks of liberals/conservatives, not giving your own analysis...that’s dependent thought.

All these sheep lol - bahhhhhh
