Most on here know I am not a supporter of President Trump, but, if I am going to complain when I feel he does something wrong, then I have to compliment him when he does right. This attack on Syria was the perfect response. It was strong enough to convey our message but not overdone. It also let both the Syrian and Russian governments know that we can and will do this again if necessary and there is nothing they can do to stop us. Well done President Trump!

Why don't we do the same thing to countless African countries that have been engaged in genocide for decades?

Not for nothing, but I think I've seen this movie before where we attack a middle east dictatorship because of WMD's. We reeeeeeeeeaaaaallllly hate WMD's. Genocides need to be done with AK47's and machetes, as nature intended.

Oil isn't at stake in Africa. Out of sight out of mind for us.

I wish they'd be honest regarding what this is all about. I guarantee you it's not because of humanitarian concerns.

There's not oil in Switzerland. If Mr King of Switzerland used Sarin gas on one of his towns, what do you anticipate would happen?

Bullshit, and you know it!

Really? I'm very conservative and am not crazy about wasting money on an armed conflict thath doesn't serve our national interests.

I'll ask again, if we're so interested in rescuing citizens from a crazed dictator that practices genocide -- why haven't we hurled a few bombs at any number of African nations?

I'm pretty liberal (for this board) and I think it's a great question. Clinton tried and it blew up in his face. Bush had his hands full. Obama is constantly ripped for taking out Khadaffi. We propped up lots of dictators, went after people, had a complex relationship with South Africa... I think it's a little bit more nuanced than how you're framing it.

If 12% of the US population was arab would it make a difference?

If Rwandans and Sudanese were on twitter getting their heads hacked off I think it would've made a difference. I think Biff acted a little bit emotionally, or was influenced by someone that does. Also, it made a ton of political sense for him to do it.

So this is about color then correct? We hate people from Africa?

I don't know man, I'm pointing out other ways of looking at things.

You're coming off curmudgeonly.

Mega and now Imprimis have both provided concise and probable answers for your tiny little brain.

You've trotted out African genocide, oil, and the race card, despite at least three intelligent responses to the contrary. What's your next one, and gawd forbid it be terrorism haven?

Really? A bit of disagreement and you get personal?

Usually when a discussion gets personal you've either lost or you don't have anything to say.

You might want to sit the next one out champ.

Goodness.

You really are grumpy.

You're one of the good guys AC. Sorry for busting your balls.

Trump fans. Gotta love it.

Calm down Nancy. Drama queen isn't a good look on you.

You know it's possible to consider the different reasons and motivations to the question you posed without being "Trump fans." That labeling and putting into classes is as bad as modern liberals.

What reality have I walked into where @AC2017's moodiness is on par with @syskatine

When you started acting like a douche bag.

Bottom line, I don't like seeing us drawn into another military conflict because of weak reasons.

If it's because of genocide, it happens in many places across the globe. And I know genocide is serious, I've lost a couple of associates on the dark continent to genocide at the hands of a maniacal dictator.

I was hoping Trump would be a president that wouldn't be lured into us playing the role of world police.

What's the one thing that can finally unite the right and left in this culture of distrust and suspicion?

Brad.

I was cavalier with some of how I communicated.

I also told you that you were one of the good ones, as well as offering an apology.

Then you persist with "Trump fans."

You have yet to demonstrate in this thread that you can distinguish between someone attempting to honestly answer the very question you posed and being a Trump cheerleader.

I still think your one of the good ones, but this exchange, and especially how you justify your half of the conversation given the context you added in the end, is off.

I'm sorry for you losses. And I don't know specifically why we went into Syria versus the other places you've mentioned, but @MegaPoke @imprimis (with @COWBOYintheUK echoing) all are legitimate alternatives to your "just oil" assertion.

Obviously, ole Rex needs his portfolio enhanced along with the Donald's with their investments in military contractors!

Besides, have to show he's being tough on Putin when the Russian contact thingy is proven!

Oil was involved in not going into Sudan .. just wasn't oil we are a player in .. China is the player in the oil and oil pipeline moving Sudanese oil from South to North Sudan. The Arab Muslims and ruling area of Khartoum were in power because Britain left them in power (you know, lighter skin color). The South Sudanese wanted independence and to money for their oil, instead they got slaughtered .. China also has veto power on the UN Security Council and those two add up to us doing nothing.

Darfur was straight up Arab Muslims killing Black Muslims because of who they are.

These missiles did their damage in Syria but their aim was directed towards Tehran and Pyongyang primarily.

That's what I'm afraid of. The message sounds like "We're hell on wheels for one news cycle. If you guys have an airport with some sheds and junked planes sitting around we'll hit it. Don't worry though -- you'll be back to using it that afternoon."

You hear what you want to. Confirmation bias. Everyone has it but I've never seen anyone as unaware of their own as you tend Robbie.

Plenty about this to worry about, but the message it sent to various scumbags isn't one of them.

I kind of liked the move before they were running bombing raids out of the airport that afternoon and a guy on TV was explaining why we warned the russians, didn't hit the chemical weapons or take out the runways. It was just optics.

This was not intended to cause massive damage, very similar to the Libya raid in 1986, it's more to show we can ,and they can't stop us
