His end of season media availability was worth a watch. I was more than ready to “buckle up” when @Been Jammin teased us all the other day, but if Boynton’s going to be back next year, these are the kind of things you want to hear. He’s clearly aware of the issues that plagued the team this year and didn’t shy away from taking most of the blame. Now, can he actually figure out how to fix these things is obviously the million dollar question, but the first step is admitting you have a problem. Some coaches would’ve just been defensive and deflected these questions and blamed injuries after a season like this.
He was pretty candid about the “fluidity” of the roster. Sounds like they definitely encouraged some players to look elsewhere if they want to play next year.
He also said that right after the season ended he watched ALL of their games again, and I’ll paraphrase, but he basically said there were times where they looked like a well-coached team, but there were others when it didn’t even look like they had a coach. Said they need more shooting, playmaking and consistency next season.
Again, I’m more than ready for a change, but if he’s coming back next year and there’s any hope of things changing for the better, this is a good place to start.
