It has been awhile since I've been to Stillwater. What I noticed was how many apartment building are going up...not your 2-story types but large ones. So my question is: Is the University wanting to get out of the dorm business and get the students living off campus? Again, I couldn't believe how many large complexes are going up.

Did you go to campus? What has gone on there the last fifteen years is amazing.

That new complex going in across the street west of Pioneer Stadium looks like it could hold every student on campus. Isn't it like five or six four-story buildings?

My questions about it:

Isn't it on OSU land? Didn't we own the building that housed the POSSE staff and was also the library annex 12 years ago or so?

How smart was the Domino's kitchen to refuse to sell out so they're baking pizzas right in the middle of a huge apartment complex? OR, were the complex owners smart to let Domino's stay and claim the kitchen as a "perk" to living there?

Like everywhere else in Stillwater, where the hell is everyone supposed to park?

Haven't they had a housing shortage for awhile now? Suite style is in demand, but takes up more space with less residents.

No, the extra space is needed. As @EvilPOKES mentioned, the suites that are being constructed on campus take up more space than the old dorms did for the same number of students, but the bigger issue is that OSU has had record enrollment for freshmen each of the last few years.

Yes, the complex across from Pioneer Stadium is one of the buildings that I had in mind...huge. Also I think there are more apartments going up East of Joes....not sure of the street but it's in the area I think. The campus has changed so much in the past 5 years. The new Business building is really going to be neat. On a personal note, Cordell Hall is hanging on...it's just a matter of time.....

Once the legal mumbo jumbo gets done, I believe the university will gain another 800-900 acres of land just west of the cattle facilities on the western edge of town. That should open up space on the west side of Western where current research fields are located. This is probably a few years out, the announcement anyways. I don't know any of the legal stuff when it comes to executing a Will and all that. But, once OSU owned, that will allow some major expansion in the future if they want to go that route.
