Confused Logic Coming From The Biden/NeoCon Camp

We are told that we must aid Ukraine in order to defend democracy. But Biden says Ukraine cannot yet be admitted into NATO because they aren't a real democracy. So what are we defending?

We are told that Ukraine cannot become a part of NATO until they defeat Russia. NATO purportedly exists as an organization whose purpose is to protect members against Russian invasions. But Ukraine cannot join NATO until it defeats Russia on its own. But if Ukraine proves it can defeat Russia on its own then why does it need NATO?

The ironic part of NATO is that economically, all the largest players are each larger than Russia, yet we need to expand it? Germany is the 4th largest GDP in the world? Why do they need our protection from Russia at this point? The UK, France and Italy are 6th, 7th, and 8th largest economies in the world. Russia didn't make the top 10.

There are lots of reasons, with the big ones likely having to do with money flowing into certain NATO countries from other countries and private industry interests in maintaining a customer for their wares
