This is actually an interesting read. It gives two sides, but the mask side supported by an AF Sgt who lived in Enid a whole 7 years who thinks he knows better about what is good for Enid is the height of arrogance. He needs to move but not to Arizona where he will find the same thing. He also missed the part of the military that is about protecting freedom and renenforced the part that is the sacrifice one makes for joining in giving up your freedom. Key word sacrifice. You sacrifice your freedom so others may have it. Now that he is retired he has his freedom back and doesn't realize it.
They nail it in finding that peoole are tired of the majority culture being the one to have to take a back seat and are trying to fight back. The majority is supposed to be in charge. The idea that the minority runs the roost is a recipe for destruction.

it was the greatest town in the world to grow up in
