so I have an end of season meeting with my daughters HS basketball coach. I kept my mouth shut all year with the exception of one off the court issue that needed to be addressed. I have a laundry list of issues but should I go full Frank costanza and air my grievances or just keep my mouth shut?

What are your issues?
You arguing about playing time or in-game strategy? No, hold your tongue.
You upset with the way the coach communicates with parents or players? Yes, inform the coach.

I think most good coaches like feedback, but do so without emotion. And do so without biased blinders of being the Dad of a player.

@Inky29 How many years do you have left under this coach?

I think that's important to know. Some issues are worth 'burning the bridge' down for but if you have someone you'll see for 2-3 more years.. I might tread lightly.

3 more years. I kept it civil, no reason to cut off my nose to spite my face. None of my issues would in the long run be fixed by the head coach; AD and board need to fix the problem. Hard to argue with someone who is never wrong.

What do you mean by "off the court issues"? That terms covers a lot of gournd. Are they directly related to performance on the court? Do this issues involve the coach's conduct or players? I would say if you don't approve of some of the way some of the others players are behaving you either need to mind your own business or at the very least make 100% sure you have the facts straight and can document them. If you just don't like the way the coach runs the program be it rules, discipline, interaction with parents, fans and media or his support of players you should probably feel out the other parents. Coach's get and deserve a lot leeway in how they run their program. What works for one may not work for another and somebody is almost always going to be unhappy anyway.

With the way parents are today I would assume you are being written off no matter how legit your concerns are. It’s not a good listening environment when he is thinking oh god here comes another one.
