and

today enel moves announces they move forward with their red dirt wind project.
you see it's not going to slow these wind turbines down one bit.

now quit giving away the house on gross production taxes for horizontal wells and oklahoma might actually have a budget commensurate with its state gdp.

Where to begin?

Saw her on a photo last week. So much plastic surgery/filler she looked almost unrecognizable, like white trash won the lottery.

I'm sure she has a bold plan to right the state, with our republican legislature having the courage and wisdom to greatly help.

THIS is what happens when conservatives take over government. Look at Oklahoma and Kansas state governments.

has nothing to do with conservatives it's the same piss poor leadership we saw from brad henry

there's this philosophy in govmt you have to give away the house to attract business

i'm sorry but there's wind in the air,
oil and gas in the ground and people need it.

Nothing to do with conservatives huh? Sorry, but they own the Governor, Senate, House and every other regulatory body. Every one of them got elected claiming to be a conservative. It is exclusively, only about the conservatives at this point. Trying to blame someone else for this is just passing the buck.

What awful leadership at every level. Conservatives wanted it, they had the answers, and this is what they've produced. And Brad Henry, though I'm not his biggest fan, never had a state government this disfunctional.

And you don't have to "give away" anything -- just have a state where people want to live and that educates children.

you do understand why a democrat can't get elected in oklahoma don't you?

Yes and no. Once with a democrat governor we actually saved money during an oil boom. During the last oil boom we gave the oil industry more tax breaks and THOSE are the chickens that are roosting right now. Imagine if we increased the rainy day fund instead of looting it. But that's not conservative -- you get rid of those taxes and watch everything take off and blossom. That's what was done in Oklahoma and Kansas, anyhow, these libertarian bastions where we really reign in taxes.

So... enjoy this blossom of conservative government.

edit: @AC2017 I wasn't smart enough to "reply" or whatever.

Boy do I! I'd prefer not to start that though, it'll trigger a month-long pissfight.

fair enough and with respect

to me our state government is just bad
whether it's little dixie democrats turned republican, inner city dems

or rural repubs who think the world was going to end if they told aubrey, larry, harold and tom we can't cut production taxes to the bare minimum.

throw in casino money the state doesn't see a nickel of and big business is on a free roll.

I appreciate the usual incompetence of state government, but this is exceptional and trying to portray it as business as usual is flat missing the OKC school closings, awful test scores all over, child welfare, infrastructure, budget cuts... You're right about selling out to big business, and one lesson of this is that the private market (at least in Oklahoma) will totally screw the public if it saves them money.

and to trumps credit and oklahoma taxpayers expense that she traveled on, she didn't get to take her talents to washington

I know a principal making $190,000 a year...works 9 months a year, lots of vacation time, and is dumb as a hammer. Some of these academicians who have played the system to the max are making big bucks while the staving new teachers carry the load. The principal does have a masters. The whole system needs to be evolved but it will never happen. The unions know what they have and they aren't sharing it with the newbys.

State college admin bureaucracy is bad too.

all these people have played the system and have enough power to keep playing it...and adding to their pockets.

i know a superintendent who works 11 months a year
starts his day at 7:30 and after attending sporting events doesn't get home until ten.

prolly works thirty saturdays a year as well

he prolly makes 90k in a small town but he does 2.5 jobs time wise

i agree there is fat at the top always is, but there are lots of hardworking folks in there as well

You've essentially defined a good chunk of what characterizes "the swamp."

What about county assessments across the state? I read something a few months back claiming that only about 10 of the 77 Oklahoma counties actually assess property values to anything near the actual values as stated on the various real estate sites. If this is true, it means county assessors are intentionally low-balling their property assessments to get reelected, thereby cheating schools of better funding.

I assume Edmond falls in one of the 10 counties?

What district is this? Or just the rough area in Oklahoma if you don't want to be too specific.

George Nigh, David Boren, and Frank Keating were all good governors.
Keating not so much. Governorship was intended to be a stepping stone and everything he did was focused on furthering that aim. IMO as the saying goes...
