Here’s what I don’t understand. The house votes and McCarthy doesn’t have enough votes. So the conservatives slowly strong arm him into bending to their demands, making him even more unappealing to Dems. This is repeated vote after vote.
Would it have been better for the Dems if a few of them just vote for McCarthy right out of the gate to keep the agenda more moderate?

It is not for you to worry about. @davidallen has spoken, and he says Jeffries is incredibly competent and knew exactly how to play it, while no Republican is worth a damn. Just listen to David, he knows everything and he will lead you to glory.
This is very true.
All of this worked out perfectly for the Democrats. The House Republicans looked like complete clowns and the American people were able to see their incompetence on full display. And yet, McCarthy still gets elected Speaker which ensures that this clown show and incompetency will only continue moving forward. Which will set up an excellent opportunity for the Democratic Party heading into '24.
btw, Jefferies gave a heck of a speech last night. The message he delivered in his speech is a winner. Democrats are on message and united like I haven't seen in a while. I have to tip my hat to President Biden right now. His leadership continues to exceed my expectations.

It's been a wild ride so far and it seems like the GOP is in need of a Clinton intervention. I'm sure if he played his cards right, he'd have them folding in no time.
