I've come down to earth just a touch and after listening to Willie and Bausch, Willie isnt too far off. We had some good wins, sure, but it wasnt like we pulled any major upsets. The best thing about it was we didnt underperform at any weight and did what we were supposed to do and looked good doing it, which is a marked change from last couple of years where we would routinely disappoint. Glad we picked up some spots in the rankings, but still need to catch Ramos, Keckeisen etc...
He rained on it pretty hard. The difference in two matches (Surber and Fish) was tons closer than is realized. The next two bangs in those matchups should be different outcomes.

On Sprat, and mark this down, he gets Ramos on the next one. That match was decided by strength for the most part and Troy had a great shot that was fluke defended by Ramos. Troy gets him in March.

Plott has been discussed. I think Plott shocks the sport in March. That was an even match when Plott got back from mars.

On that podcast, yes, he wasn’t factually wrong. But he also dismissed the margins of victory and defeat. There’s a reason for the jump in ranking. There’s a reason there’s been counter marketing.

This team performed extremely well and was razor thin away from WOW better. Can’t control MFFs, but what was controllable pretty much was.

I guess there were no huge upsets pulled by any OSU guys, but this was the first tournament in a while that I didn’t feel like one or more of our guys didn’t go out and crap his pants against a clearly inferior opponent. Felt like the last few years we have been good for at least one guy losing a match he had no business losing.

Mostly true, but there were a couple bouts that could be considered upsets and a few more that would've been had our guy won.

In those cases, our guy was right there with them the entire match and it could've easily gone a different way.

Really, it is about the way we competed for me. If you were there watching, there weren't any bouts that you looked at the scoreboard and moved on to a seat or another match because you knew it was over. These guys were pretty much in every single match until the final whistle.

Yes, its December, but it won't change in March, imo.

I feel like Tagen over Hardy is a fairly big upset. Like I always thought Tagen was capable of winning but if you would’ve asked me I would’ve predicted Hardy.

It also shows a lot for Tagen’s development as Hardy majored him when they wrestled last year.
They went 1-1 last year. Hardy won the first match at CKLV but it wasn't a major. Then they wrestled again on the backside and Tagen got the major.

I really didn't say much about Tagen...but that kid showed he's right there in the mix too. Sprat, Tagen and Surber are going to surprise people in March. Reese too. Really pumped about Tagen after Vegas too!

Plott has a tough shot to win it, DJ has a tough shot to win it and Wyatt can get to the finals, but Gable is otherworldly.

Hendrickson and Hamiti are looking like the real deals, coming march. The excitement and energy, along with ability and better training situations, IMO, could make them title contenders. Back in the early 90s, when OSU was suspended, they came back hungrier than ever, with very little talent and in very short time, they won a championship. When wrestlers are hungry (not literally), big things can happen. In addition, we have some pretty tough guys up and down the line, as seen at CKLV. I think when March rolls around, we will see improvement up a down the line. These wrestlers, were top tier wrestlers coming out of HS but then never have been able to realize their potential. It’s amazing how success breads success.

IMO the finals match showed just how good Dean is. He dominated the kid in a 1pt match, wasn't going to give him another chance to score.

I thought opposite. Not that he wasn't dominant, but he didn't numerically dominate him. I was thinking at the time that Haines and O'toodles would win more impressively?

Maybe not?

I think it was like 2017 when we had 8 guys AA and finished 3rd.

So obviously I am excited to see a duplicate NCAAs with more bonus and hopefully strong placements to make it fun.

If our guys stay healthy, I really do expect some fireworks and some puckered purple cheerios by PSU.

To beat guys like Haines & KOT he's gotta have more to his game than simply out scrambling the other guy. I think he showed a difference dimension in that match its something that would've help him when he wrestle MM last year.
