USA Today:
"If Strong is fired without cause, Texas will owe him an amount equal to total pay remaining on the contract, subject to Strong's obligation to offset up to half of that amount with income from subsequent employment. So, if Texas were fire Strong after one season, it would owe him $21 million, up to half of which could be offset."
Can't imagine he's any getting better than a lower D1 job at that point. That's in the neighborhood of 16mil left. Keep in mind Texas and Patterson readily forked over the cash to buyout his contract with Louisville (~4.3 mil), so he's pretty much going to make well more than 14mil in 2 seasons with more another 5.2, 5.3 and 5.4 mil = 15.9 mil the rest of his contract.
They're in deep either way.
