Charles krauthammer saying goodbye

I might take some shit for this but comparing his life to Anthony Bourdain right now makes me think. Paralyzed as a young man and went on to great things. Bourdain couldn’t stay alive to get paid to drink smoke and raise a child.

Found some info.

When asked what brought him into the office, Bourdain says ... "I will find myself in an airport, for instance, and I'll order an airport hamburger. It's an insignificant thing, it's a small thing, it's a hamburger, but it's not a good one. Suddenly I look at the hamburger and I find myself in a spiral of depression that can last for days."

CK was part of the New Republic staff during my college years, would read that thing cover to cover every week. He and Kinsley with Kondrake and Barnes were my nerd heroes of the day. Obviously did not agree a lot with him, but always appreciated his very intellectual approach to issues.

That’s the thing with him. The non emotional approach to politics is all but extinct. No one has filled the void in his absence and don’t see that as a way to get on tv in today’s environment.

My son graduated college and got a job at the New Republic as Assistant Literary Editor, 1999 to 2002.

I gotta meet this kid... When is his book tour coming to Portland?
Worked for Leon Wieseltier who recently got caught up in his own sex harsssment scandal. I asked Brian if he knew about it. He said he heard rumors but never saw it in person.

Book comes out in October. Your local book store needs to contact the publisher and invite him. But he’s not a kid anymore. He’s 39 years old.

His ability to make seemingly complicated things make sense is what I have missed most from Special Report. He didn’t care what/who it was he told it how it was and you found yourself agreeing even if it was the other side.

Wish journalist majors would aspire to be like CK instead of the hate and click bait journalists schools are producing today. Perhaps it is not the schools and they come in to a sick Corporate world and realize either conform or get fired.

MSM perhaps needs to be hiring more like CK, but that would mean actually having to have journalists that can think and heads of MSM valuing quality programming as much as the bottom line.

We think society is progressing but our society constantly is going extinct with individual excellence that perhaps we will never see again. Not trying to take anything away from these individuals, but that seems to reflect mostly on society and more then the individual excellence people exhibit.

What happened to growing up idolizing true individual excellence and aspiring to achieve that? Has pop culture just turned us in to pawns of corporate America that manipulate us to maximize corporate power and their agenda first, and then their corporate earnings?

I think that Ben Shapiro has some of those good qualities.

I always liked Krauthammer after he eulogized his brother in a column. Man he could write and think.

George Will is the only one left and trumpanzees have marginalized him.

OP that's such an ignorant, shitty thing to say about bourdain.
