Thought about adding this to the other CFB thread, but didn't really want to derail what was being discussed there.
So, there is a show on tonight to release the committee's first rankings of the season. I think we are all interested, since OSU should be one of the teams listed. However, I am going to take this opportunity to point out how stupid it is that college football fans actually pay attention to this.
There will be 4 Big 12 teams listed, and they all still have upcoming games against each other. Where they are ranked tonight means absolutely nothing.
There will be 3 Big 10 teams listed and it won't matter where any of them are ranked until after the Big 10 Championship game.
Further confirmation of how worthless all of these preliminary rankings are came last season when the Big 12 had a team at number 3 in the second to last poll and no team higher than 5 in the final poll. None of the CFP rankings mean much of anything except for the final one.
Will you guys be glued to the TV tonight, or will you just look up the results later, to see where OSU is placed? (a third option would be to totally ignore the preliminary polls and wait until the final one is released).
