I am very surprised in the most free country that I know of suddenly has started censoring what teachers can teach students about black history month. The subjects that should not be taught to hide what blacks went through in the USA.
THIS happens in third world countries like Pakistan.

If you really do understand and approve of what is "suddenly" being attempted to be taught in the American classrooms, that means you probably hate White people.

So this is what you think is being censored in America? Anything else?

off the charts stupid. Can you link what you think is happening?

I noticed you brought up the CRT censorship. Which isn't censorship as Democrats seem to think it doesn't exist. How do you censor something that doesn't exist in the first place? If you are still not convinced take a look at what they are taking out of the classroom. Teaching classrooms that white children should feel guilty about thier skin color. It is discrimination by any definition. I find it ok that teachers are not allowed to teach hate in our classrooms. Slavery is still being taught, civil rights is still being taught. I know they still allow teachers to teach hate in many schools in middle east, but it has no place in a free society.

As stupid as his post is people on here are still talking about Obama.

Just pointing out the tribal hypocrisy.

As a teacher myself, I fully understand what you are speaking about. Thankfully, so far, I have not experienced any censoring of what I can teach during black history month. However, I know of the movements occuring in some states and the bills that Republican led legislatures are trying to pass to censor teachers on a wide range of issues. Also, the book banning that is occuring in some states.

Regrettably, the Republican Party has chosen to energize it's base with attacks on public education, using race and other issues as motivating factors. The misguided obsession with CRT being a part of this. Hopefully, all of this will pass soon but I worry that Republican leadership will continue to use this issue to divide us.

You see, some blatantly age inappropriate books have been removed from middle school libraries. Some were to the point of being pornographic.

That’s now “censoring”……..but only when convenient to the left.

let’s see what this guy has. Maybe he has knowledge of books about slavery and Jim Crow being banned. @_Insider_ you have the floor.

To be fair to him, some of the greatest anti- Jim Crow literature in American history has been removed.

When the left makes an accusation……

oh shit @_Insider_ @aliabedi whats happening here with these fvcking republicans in Washington?

I'm not a fan of our children being indoctrinated re: Marxism thank you.
As a teacher, I have never indoctrinated my students with Marxism. I have also never been asked to do so.

As I posted earlier, this is a wedge issue of fear being used to divide us Americans for the benefit of partisan politics.

let’s come at this from a different angle. Which books listed in that article should be allowed in children’s libraries?
@HighStickHarry, I'm wondering why the recent new posters all sound the same. There was some Phoenix name here for a few days that was also a "centrist" teacher who parroted nothing but leftist talking points.

Speaking of censorship, @_Insider_ , what's with the teacher unions desperation to keep parents from knowing what their kids are being taught? Transparency should be a cornerstone of education, no?

Your info is incorrect. That’s not happening in the USA. In my state (Ohio), slavery, the Civil War and Jim Crow are taught. It is required to be taught. My understanding is that the majority of states require this to be taught.

What folks are fighting against are Marxist-based theories which teach that America is “systemically racist” and that whites are “privileged” and “oppressive” because of the past history in the USA. That garbage has no business being taught in schools. Political indoctrination is what happens in sh*thole third world countries, not the USA.

What books listed do you believe should be banned and not allowed?

I'm not supportive of this recent political inspired book banning phase. If you are, then you can make your own arguments as to why you support such action.

I disagree with any teacher union actively trying to keep parents from knowing what their kids are being taught.

One of the “banned” books in Loudoun County, VA is “Gender Queer.” Read the Amazon reviews. Has pics of a young boy doing disgusting, perverse sexual acts to a grown man. That garbage has no business being taught in schools. And any teacher who does should frankly be prosecuted.

I remember back when I was in grade school, we ran across a book that showed a woman's breasts. Naturally word spread among the boys, and it became the most popular book in school. It wasn't until one of the teachers caught one of the boys looking at the picture that the teachers figured out why some obscure literature book was so popular. Naturally they removed the book from the library. Strange we didn't hear the cries of banning books back then.

The whole "banning books" movement goes in cycles in this nation. Depending on which ever political party decides it is once again time to encourage fear and outrage among its base to generate political energy. All about power and division.

As a teacher, I often find it interesting how misguided and rather naïve many are as it relates to information sources for students today. Some are worried abut books in a library, and yet, they have no problem buying their children devices that give them direct access to the internet. Most kids today go to Google and Amazon more than they do the school library. There is no limit to what they are exposed to. If a kid wants to see a woman's breasts today, he doesn't go to a book like you did in grade school. He just gets on his electronic device and googles it.

What specifically did they go through that is being censored, Ali Baba? And who should decide how this is presented?

The drawing is based on an ancient Greek pottery cup that contains an erotic sketching of “a courting scene” and is on display at a museum in Oxford, England.

i support banning any book from children that exploits racial differences. I have zero problem with any book teaching actual history.

you havent provided us any history books that have been banned. People like Clinton and Alibabba think republicans are banning speaking about black history and it’s because of people like you. It’s just not true.
