Ohio State (Last week -- 1): This J.T. Barrett kid has a future at Ohio State. The Forgotten Buckeye came off the bench to lead the win over Penn State. With Cardale Jones benched, OSU may have found a quarterback halfway through the season. Wait, Barrett didn't throw a Tim Tebow jump pass for a touchdown, did he? Yes, he did.

Baylor (8): West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen just became Corey Coleman's Heisman publicist. "The best player in college," Holgorsen said following Coleman's nation-leading 16th touchdown catch for the Bears. "You can put me on record for that." Seth Russell duplicated RGIII's feat of throwing for 300 and rushing for 100.

LSU (3): Leonard Fournette threw what looked like a punch upside the head of a Florida defender in clearing space for himself Saturday night. That seemed completely appropriate for the nation's best player and most productive runner.

Clemson (4): Deshaun Watson threw for 420 yards. The Tigers scored 34 on a team that hadn't given up more than 14 (Boston College). Still looking up in the ACC Atlantic standings at FSU.

Utah (2): When is Deontae Booker going to get some Heisman love? Another complete game against Arizona State -- Booker ran for 118 yards and two touchdowns while catching four passes. The Utes remain the Pac-12's best playoff hope.

Michigan State (5): We'll step aside and let Connor Cook sum things up: "What happened? What the hell just happened? … It was over." After the Michigan Miracle, it's time to start considering the Spartans a playoff team.

TCU (6): Trevone Boykin is on pace to throw for 5,000 yards after getting 510 yards in total offense against Iowa State. The Frogs fell five points short of scoring at least 50 for the sixth consecutive game.

Alabama (10): Nick Saban tied Bear Bryant with his sixth career road win over an AP top-10 opponent. After smacking Texas A&M, Saban and the Tide are still in another pursuit of The Bear specialty -- another national championship.

Florida State (11): FSU's ACC win streak goes to 28 straight with a win over Louisville. Speaking of streaks, Everett Golson continues to post a big goose egg -- that is, his number of turnovers after committing a nation-high 22 last season.

Stanford (17): One of the great mysteries of the universe is how the Cardinal scored only six in the opener against Northwestern. Since then, they've averaged 45 points per game after blowing out UCLA.

Iowa (16): Third-leading Big Ten rusher Jordan Canzeri was injured early against Northwestern. No big deal as former fourth-teamer Akrum Wadley went for 200 and four touchdowns. Running the table a definite possibility for the Hawkeyes.

Notre Dame (13): The Irish are establishing themselves as the best one-loss independent. In case you weren't paying attention, Notre Dame is the only one-loss independent. Don't know if this is a playoff team following a 41-31 win over USC. Irish gave up a school-record 440 passing yards.

Memphis (21): Justin Fuente will be picking his next school, not the other way around. After a stunning win over Ole Miss, the Tigers' coach can write his ticket. Right now, the ceiling shouldn't be just the American title.

Florida (7): If you want to throw a Hail Mary, Treon Harris is not your guy. The quarterback was definitely the difference in a bitter seven-point loss to LSU. The Gators could use a Cocktail. They'll get one in two weeks against Georgia.

Oklahoma State (15): Bye. Cowboys are 6-0, sure to be 7-0 with Kansas coming up. One of three undefeated Big 12 teams.

Oklahoma (18): Can't decide which question to ask first -- Where was this (a 55-0 win over Kansas State) last week against Texas? Also, clip and save the result. A shutout in the Big 12?

Texas A&M (12): The Not Ready For Prime Time Aggies couldn't break through -- again. Alabama was bigger, meaner and more opportunistic. Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray (four combined interceptions) need to start with some remedial target practice.

Houston (20): The Cougars keep rolling with the fifth 6-0 start in school history. Greg Ward Jr. ran for three touchdowns against Tulane, increasing his nation-leading total to 14.

Michigan (9): Fall. On. The. Ball. That's all Blake O'Neill had to do. Don't know what the worse result is for the poor kid from Australia -- losing or enduring the haters. Keep your chin up, kid.

Temple (23): While you were sleeping on the Owls, they got to 6-0 for the first time since 1974 by beating UCF. Jahad Thomas rushed for 199 yards. One of the three undefeated American teams.

Toledo (24): Former Alabama quarterback Phillip Ely continues to power the Rockets. Ely played less than three quarters, throwing four touchdowns against Eastern Michigan.

Pittsburgh (NR): Kicker Chris Blewitt has, well, blown it before. But give the Panthers credit: They're 5-1 in Pat Narduzzi's first season after Blewitt kicked a late 56-yard field goal to beat Georgia Tech.

Ole Miss (14): Charity ranking? Perhaps. The Rebels were easily handled by Little Brother (Memphis) and were blown out earlier by Florida. But that win over Alabama has to count for something. It's hard to realize at the moment, but the Rebels still control their SEC West destiny.

North Carolina (NR): 1. Marquise Williams threw three touchdowns against Wake. Amazingly, this is the third time since 2008 the Heels have been 5-1. The key is finishing. North Carolina is a combined 5-9 after those great starts in '08 and '11.

California (25): Bye. Jared Goff dials up Interception Prevention Hotline prior to Thursday's trip to UCLA.
