Star Wars” actress Carrie Fisher was in critical condition Friday after suffering a “cardiac episode” during a flight from London to Los Angeles, according to airline and emergency officials.

Fisher, 60, was rushed to the hospital by Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics shortly after noon, after her 11-hour flight touched down at LAX.

A source who was not authorized to discuss the incident said the actress was “in a lot of distress on the flight.”

United Airlines said that medical personnel met Flight 935 from London on arrival after the crew reported a passenger was unresponsive.

“Our thoughts are with our customer at this time,” the statement read.

Just prior to arrival, a pilot told the control tower that passengers who were nurses were attending to another “unresponsive” passenger.”

“So they’re working on her right now,” the pilot said in a public recording of the conversation on liveatc.net.

According to the LAX Police Department, officers responded to Terminal 7 around 12:15 p.m., for a call of a female passenger in cardiac arrest. On arrival, they found paramedics performing CPR on the victim, according to Officer Alicia Hernandez.

Fisher, who rose to stardom as Princess Leia, recently published an autobiography titled the “Princess Diarist,” her eighth book.

She is the daughter of famous Hollywood couple Debbie Reynolds and Eddie Fisher.

Fisher is considered Hollywood royalty who has written and spoken openly about her struggles in Hollywood. She took on her prickly relationship with her mother in the book-to-movie "Postcards From the Edge.” She’s also been outspoken about her mental health issues and the solution she found — radical-sounding electroshock therapy.

Electroshock therapy (ECT) is the best treatment for medication-resistant depression available. Nothing "radical" about it at all.

Can you survive in the normal sense after not breathing for 10-15 min? Or is she brain dead? Horrible.

Yes, if passengers (nurses) were correctly administering CPR it's possible. Damage to the heart post MI may be another thing. Doesn't look very good.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — ‘‘Star Wars’’ actress Carrie Fisher is receiving treatment in an intensive care unit after suffering a medical emergency on a flight Friday, according to her brother.

Todd Fisher said Friday night that his sister is receiving excellent care, but that he could not classify her condition. He had earlier told The Associated Press that she had been stabilized and was out of the emergency room. In a subsequent interview he said many details about her condition or what caused the medical emergency are unknown.

Carrie Fisher, 60, experienced medical trouble during a flight from London and was treated by paramedics immediately after the plane landed in Los Angeles, according to reports citing unnamed sources.

Sad news for all of us Star Wars geeks. Sad news anyway.

This is the worst news 2016 has delivered. First crush at age 7, Princess Leia.

In tribute, here is a Leia themed image we produced at the studio last year in a Star Wars promotional project.

2016 can officially go to hell. I feel like a massive part of my childhood died today. And 60 is WAY too young to go!!

I wonder how this will affect the sequels?

As I understand it, her part was already shot for VIII. Assuming she isn't already killed off in that movie, I guess they've got enough time to write it in. I would hope they don't CGI her for some kind of cameo, but the precedent has been set.

I think they will have to, you can't recast her IMO

In Rouge one they used a ton of CGI for characters that were portrayed by actors who have long since passed. Wasn't a fan honestly

Episode 8 is already filmed. I don't think she was slated to die in that movie, so they will either add something to kill her character off, or will kill her off early in episode 9. They could use CGI to do either of those options, or have other characters discuss how she was in some base that was blown to smithereens, or some starship that crashed.

The rumor is Leia gets badly injured early on and sits out the rest of the movie. If this is true they will probably kill off the character.

And mom Debbie Reynolds is 84 and still kicking (last time I saw her interviewed she seemed to be in still good shape.) Of course, Debbie didn't snort up half of the los angeles basin in her day, which I imagine played a role in Carrie's demise.

Whew! I think I've FINALLY won a Celebrity Death Pool!

Thanks, Princess Leia. You were my only hope.

I just got my monthly 405 Magazine (OKC Based) yesterday. I opened it today to see a spread on Carrie Fisher Appearing in OKC Civic Center on Jan 18th doing her one woman show "The Princess Diarist."

What's not often mentioned about her was how much she was in demand as a "script doctor" in Hollywood, sometimes acknowledged in the credits and often times not.

LOL. I can't believe some of you ladies are emotionally devastated by the death of this B-list actress.

What I find interesting, the woman was the biggest pinko-lib jedi who routinely ripped Trump on twitter. Surprised this Conservative board hadn't disowned her.

This is a sports board not a political board. If your opinion of everybody and everything is based on political ideology you are going to have a very shallow and miserable life.

Wow, dbag much?

Man, wait till Erin Gray and Nichelle Nichols kick the bucket. Comic-con won't even be worth going to.

Serious copyright issues. The family that owns the original 'Armageddon' series that Buck came from blocked the guy from doing it when he thought it was public domain. He sued and the judge threw it out because there was no script, no timeline, no anything. The guy is like, what the hell, I can't make any plans unless I have rights and the judge says, I won't make any decision unless you have something to show me. Unlikely he is going to spend time and money on development on something he doesn't know if he can use or not.
