This would have been fun to watch. (wasn't on any tv that I could find) The Pistons beat the Hornets 127-126.
The 6-8 220 Cade had 19 pts, 5 rebs and 6 assists on 7-16 from the field. Cade was +6
The 6-7 180 point guard Lamelo Ball had 17, 7, and 7 on 6-24 from the field. Ball was -1
I would imagine they spent decent time guarding each other.
Lamelo is one month older than Cade (hadn't realized this before looking it up) but is in his 2nd year in the NBA. He was the #3 pick.
Last year as a rookie he averaged 15.7 pts, 6 rebs and 6 assists on 43% and 35% on threes. (29 min/game)
This year as a 20 year old he has jumped all the way up to 20 pts, 7.1 and 7.5. On 42% and 36 from 3.
I think its safe to say he is as good or better than advertised.
Cade is 16 pts, 5.5 rebs and 5.1 assists. on 40% and 32% from 3. (32 min/game). Very close to Lamelo's rookie year.
I would be thrilled to see Cade next year at 20, 7, and 7, with 43% overall and 35% from 3.
It will be interesting to see if and when Cade ever catches Lamelo in numbers.
My guess is that Cade is or will be a better defender.
