Do I remember there being some talk about solar farms killing birds that got close? If so was it a real thing or just some BS?

If it is true could the new California law about homes having solar power have the same sort of effect? Also is the law new construction only?

Yeah, those big wind mills kill birds all the time. The government issues pretty expensive permits for those companies to be allowed to kill eagles up to a certain amount. Obama, I believe, raised the number of birds that could be killed. Killing the environment in the name of progress. But hey, it's renewable energy so it's cool. Kill an eagle with some oil = bad. Kill an eagle with a wind mill = meh.

PV is largely harmless. Solar Thermal will roast birds that spend any time in the beam.
