Buying Twitter followers?

Its things like this that makes me wonder about stats like Twitter & FB saying that 'Russian influence' was seen 100 million times? How many of those views are these kinds of accounts.

Wasn't to me but I do know that this isn't partisan. Half the people who think they are 'famous' do this. But in the end its capitalism at its finest. People placed value on 'likes' and 'followers' and thus some smart business man (or woman) found a way to sell them.

Hell, you have religious leaders (or their media firms) doing this every day. A very mature business, and as you say quite profitable for some.

Agreed. I think people who care about follower counts would be surprised at how many of those counts are 'farmed'.
 
Am I the only person on here who has resisted the urge to be part of twitter? I've never had a twitter account. I get in enough trouble posting on these boards.

I did, but in the run up to the 2016 election, I was able to track down on Twitter some well connected, knowledgeable people for discussion on certain topics.

Now I see it as a daily news feed. Used to be drudge, which now doesn't move quickly enough for me (and isn't comprehensive enough in its aggregation).

I'm never on Facebook. I minimize my exposure to Google as much as possible.

No. I've never had a twitter, fakebook, instagram, or similar account.

I have one but only to follow the lesser sports for OSU. Primarily women's basketball, tennis and softball. Otherwise don't participate in the self aggrandizing stuff.
 
Facebook is for keeping up with people from high school. Outside of that it is worthless.

Bing provides good results for the times when my stable genius mind doesn't already know the answer.

Next time I'm up for a phone, I'll dig deep to find a non-Android that meets my needs.

Probably migrate to Outlook/other as primary Email soon.

Not to my knowledge. But I admittedly don't know what you mean by "powered."

My original comments were on personal preferences.

My social media sites are this site and LinkedIn (which I barely update). I've never had a facebook, twitter, snapchat, or any of the other mainstream social media systems.
