At some point does someone with some sense maybe say we have crushing property and tampant crime maybe our resources are being misused? They are making fools of themselves on the national stage. Chastise them, put the truth out there but come one. Clean up your cardboard box slums and your sex trafficking and then maybe you can go after some lying Americans.

Totally, 100% agree with how the Brazilian authorities handled this.

Aside from NBC, the foreign coverage of these Olympics was simply unfair and sensationalized. These games were in Rio, not Fallujah. Remember when everyone was going to die of zika, terrorists attacks, rampant gun crimes, dead bodies on the beach, pools of poop, sunburn, crotch itch, psoriasis and tetur? Yeah, right. Nothing happened. So many of the negative stories were simply untrue. Remember the floating sofa bit with the kayaker? Everyone believed it. The Lochte robbery? Ha. Nice try.

I thought it was a pretty good games, IMO.

Breastman, had the Brazilian government not brought in the military much of what you listed would have been a problem. Although I'm still out on the Zika deal. Have been to Rio numerous times and further north (Natal, Fortaleza and Gumare) where there are lots and lots of mosquitoes and never worried about any of that.

Guanabara Bay, is a cess pool but finding turds, body parts and whatnot is not uncommon so if one of the Olympians had said they saw The Loch Ness monster being ridden by a Yeti, would not surprise me.

There are some awesome places in Brazil where the crime rate is almost non-existent and the views are overwhelming beautiful. Except for a few stops in Rio, would never put that on the list.

With the exception of a few events/races thought, this Olyimpics was as boring as watching Dean talk about UO. The treatment Israeli athletes got was pitiful and really not covered enough.

That country is in deep trouble right now and my friends down there, both employed and unemployed, are very concerned. Too bad really because it has lots to offer.
