Next season will be a must win/must make the tourney year for Coach Boynton. It does not take more than three years to build an NCAA tourney team given the advantages Oklahoma a State has ( first rate facilities/ good basketball tradition/ fan base that cares and will turn out for a winner/ power 5 conference that can get 7 teams to the tourney/ etc). Boynton can recruit. I think he can judge character but he has to retain his recruits much better. He has the personal skills (Ford and Underwood didn’t). I think he can coach tho he was out coached by Kruger tonight ( check out the possessions after time outs/ the traps OU employed / and the OU defensive switches in the second half to which Boynton didnt or couldn’t adjust). So, he has to win 20 games and get to the tourney next year or it will be a short lived tenure imo. I hope he schedules a little lighter non conference and i hope he succeeds. He is a great person it seems and would be a great ambassador for the school long term.
