Report: Boynton, Underwood both meeting with top PG prospect

With five open scholarships on Oklahoma State's basketball roster, coach Mike Boynton has plenty of recruiting work to do ahead of the 2018-19 season. That work will apparently include some competition with his former boss.

Boynton and Illinois coach Brad Underwood, Boynton's predecessor at OSU, are both set to meet with four-star point guard Courtney Ramey on Thursday, per 247Sports' Evan Daniels. Before Underwood joined the Illini, Boynton spent four years as one of his assistants at Stephen F. Austin and OSU.

With the graduation of Kendall Smith and the upcoming transfer of Brandon Averette, Boynton's roster is thin at point guard. Although Miami (Ohio) transfer Michael Weathers, the 2016-17 MAC Freshman of the Year, will be eligible at the start of the season, OSU could clearly add another ballhandler to the mix.

Ramey, from St. Louis, is the No. 1 player in Missouri and No. 9 point guard and No. 40 player in the nation, per 247Sports. He holds offers from 23 schools, including OSU.

The Cowboys' 2018-19 roster includes only four scholarship players who played in a game for them last season, all of whom will be juniors: Lindy Waters, Cam McGriff, Thomas Dziagwa and Lucas N'Guessan.
