Boy Scouts of America

They don't have much choice in today's America.

Talked to a HS senior at Guthrie HS this past week-end and he said it is to the point if you are normal you are not cool, the people that dress wild, are gay, etc....are cool.

He said a gay student transferred in and a teacher in one of their classes made each student stand up and say how they were going to support this gay student and make him feel safe. They also had to sign a contract stating they would not make any slurs towards him, basically not harm him in anyway and make him feel safe and hand the signed contract it to him. This student refused to do so and knowing the family they are raising a great young man accepted in to the navy. His mom went up to the school and supposedly the teacher was reprimanded. He said teachers are heavily slanted in their politics and they try to influence students.

Sometimes I am afraid we have already lost America.

I'm not taking a side here. Just saying if they don't accept them they will spend millions in legal fees fighting the ACLU and eventually cave. That just the state of America today.

Is this the thread where we say -"only 109 people impacted, why is this such a big deal" - or would that be too obviously pointing out hypocrisy?

First, 2 entirely different issues. Second, their membership is 2.7 million.

Should caucasions sue the BET and require equal caucasion programming? When isn the ACLU filing that suit?

Why is it that like minded groups have to put aside their beliefs and their method of operating?

Why not start a scouting program for transgender kids, both male and female?

Is the the ACLU going to sue the girl scouts next?

My opinion: The Boy Scouts are a private organization. If you don't like their decision then don't let your kids join or pull your kid out.

As to the 109 argument. I think it's a straw man. One involves national security and the other is largely inconsequential in nature. I guess I don't get the outrage when individuals control the situation and can keep their kids out or pull them from the organization.

Parents uncomfortable with trans kids around their kids < 109.

Some of your arguments remind of quotes from pinky on animaniacs.

This.

A private organization chooses to have a more inclusive admission policy.

If that offends you....enroll your kids in some other organization.

And yes, I felt and argued the same way when the BSA barred homosexuals. They are a private organization. They can do what they want.

At the same time, social pressure for them change....as opposed to state pressure through the courts or legislatures....is completely fair game. 1st Amendment and all that.

As a joe blow citizen, they are within their rights to make whatever membership qualifications they want as a private organization. As a member of the BSA, I am disappointed with this decision. The BSA offers many programs that both male and female young adults can be members of. They can be an Explorer or Venture Scout whether they are male or female, but Boy Scouts should be a male only institution. I will always, until the day I die, hold the opinion that if you have a penis you are a male and if you do not have a penis you are a female. That is your gender. PERIOD.

Also, side question, when did "LGBT" become "LGBTQ" and what the hell does the "Q" stand for?

Q = queer.

Queer. Don't ask me why, I thought they had everything covered.

Don't know Pinky - must be brilliant. Agree with your assessment though 109 is greater than the number of people worried about trans kids in BSA....

Is it ok for a grown man masquerading as a woman to be alone in a bathroom with my five year-old daughter?
If you send a 5yo into a public restroom alone your a bad grand parent irregardless of anything else. Use the family bathroom grandpa.

Irregardless gtfo banned ip ban

You've just lost it. This is a pathetic troll. I could find 109 people in Cushing against this on two hours.

I wouldn't have wanted one following my 15-year-old daughter into the bathroom. Does this work?

What you want isn't necessarily what matters. But the fixation on bathrooms is a bit disturbing.

In all seriousness, my level of concern in regards to my children interacting with strangers in bathrooms is consistent regardless of gender identity issues.

Just quoting your mathematical analysis ...

I guess I am missing something. I typed out your point. Your opinion is that transphobic parents are < 109. Right?

My point is anyone who thinks that probably has trouble getting food from their plate to their mouth.

Sigh. Snark doesn't work when you have to explain it but because I have a secret man crush on your contrarian bad self I will explain. You typed the equivalent of :

The number of parents worried about trans children is less than 109.

< is the less than sign, I think you meant > (the greater than sign.

Now go finish your homework sonny and don't give me any more lip.

I was typing what I thought your point was. I think that is the mix up here. I obviously know the difference and you know I know the difference and I know you know I know the difference.

You need one of those medication calender boxes so you don't take the whole weeks supply on Monday.

I venture no guess on the actual number of concerned parents, rather I ceded the point to you and in the process agreed that it is a trivial number.

I'm serious. Can you be queer and not be one of the other 4 designations????

Sure....

Intersexual characteristics comes to mind immediately.

I have a friend that considers herself sapiosexual....sexually attracted to intelligence no matter what kind of package it come in.

"Queer" is a catch all for pretty much all other alternative orientations.

I think the fixation started with Barrack Hussein Obama and the left. He was a button pusher just like Trump.

I agree with the over all concerns of who a child may run into in a public bathroom, but giving a green light to child molester who says he's really feminine is a little much.

Fyi the girl scouts have let in boys that Id'd themselves as girls for many years. I have always felt that decision was a sign of a bancrupt organization.

The BSA decision is wrong on so many levels.....
