Parents probably figured vaccines weren't necessary. We only got 12 years left on this planet anyways.
Trump should argue that we are under invasion and attack from biological weapons coming from south of the US border.
You'll find plenty of "anti-vaxers" on both sides of the political spectrum. If it weren't for the "innocents" caught up in their foolishness, I would consider largely a "self-correcting" problem. (I've seen plenty of these idiots ranging from left-wingers to right-wingers, with the commonality being that once they were convinced, there was no changing their minds.)

I know people on both sides of the political spectrum who are on the dumb side of the medical/science spectrum. Surprisingly, most of them are trained medical personnel.
Fun facts i’ve learned from them:
Tilapia isn’t a reall fish but was invented to sell “factory meat” grown in a lab.
The term “ice age” was invented by big oil to help deny the existence of global warming because the climate outside of human caused change is the same as it has been for millions of years. Any evidence of said ice ages is fake science.
Citric acid is a byproduct of the petroleum industry and is added to food products to eliminate problems disposing of a hazardous chemical (an MD told me that one...and he was serious about it.)
Lots of little dumb things, but those stick out.

Ya know.... I've heard a disproportionate amount of lunacy from medical people now that I think about it. One Dentist, one MD and a couple DO's instantly come to mind. And they were all competent medically, but bat shit crazy in other ways. All highly intelligent, too. Maybe if you take any demographic of 1. smart and 2. driven (prerequisites to medical school) then you increase the craycray likelihood.
