The lefties are curiously silent on Pedo Joe's India ban. Didn't Pedo Joe claim that travel bans don't work and are racist and xenophobic? Is this one somehow diFFerENt? I'm not familiar with the etiquette of hypocrisy. Can any of you lefties elaborate? You all must be PISSED.

Pretty sure that is a Pelosi line and she rightfully got roasted for it.

"On the same day Trump announced travel restrictions on China last January, Biden during a campaign speech in Iowa said, "This is no time for Donald Trump's record of hysterical xenophobia and fear mongering to lead the way instead of science.""

I'm sure his campaign's claims that he was referring to ebola and a 2014 Trump tweet are legit... 🙄

Yeah, sorry, that link isn't referring to Biden's campaign stop in Iowa where he said the above. Nice try though.

Thehill.com at the time didn't seem to tie it to travel restrictions

It explicitly mentions the campaign stop in Iowa
"But Biden did not explicitly tie xenophobia to the travel restriction. His tweet reflects coronavirus remarks he made during a campaign stop in Iowa Jan. 31, the day the travel restrictions were announced."

That is based entirely on Biden campaign claims that he was referring to 2014 and ebola. He wasn't. Sorry, not buying the bullshit.

I posted the video for Pilt to watch, I guess he ignored it. Anyone who watches it knows exactly he was talking about Covid and the travel ban. It would appear Pilt wants to go all Bill Clintonesque on us and require that Biden said specifically and exactly “the ban is xenophobic” before any context can be applied.

If you are correct that the Biden team is saying those Iowa remarks were about Ebola in 2014 I would suggest that muddies the water much worse. So the reaction to the disease of Ebola is xenophobic but the reaction to the disease of Covid is not? My goodness but politicians are slick with grease the way they sliver out from under the crap in which they put themselves.

I would ask Pilt to tell us what he thinks, really thinks, not some slithery two-faced response. Pilt, was the Covid travel ban of China xenophobic? If it was does that make the travel ban of India xenophobic also?

Libs are like liars. They create all of these social constructs they can not keep up with that they apply to others and they never expect those rules to apply to them and when they do the same as those who they criticize they have a convenient lack of memory. Their lack of intellectual honestly and intelligence makes them incapable of reconciling their massive hypocrisy and creating more racism to try to combat racism. The terrible webs Libs weave and get caught in, it would be hilarious if not for the fact it is dividing this country unnecessarily so. The Libs have made deep pockets for the media, big tech, and globalists. And they think they are fighting for the average person. The lack of critical thinking? Well, Libs love education that creates Lib conformity, not individuals who are free to think on their own and to act freely in a society which sees not skin color but the content of the character of a person, individuality, and freedom of thought.

For all his faults (and we all have faults) I have always liked Pilt immensely. I may be deluding myself but I have never thought Pilt actually believes half of the things he posts, he just likes trying to tie us up in the knots of our inconsistencies. That, plus like every left-winger worth his weight he loves to show how clever he is with his two-sided cryptic replies. It has always amazed me how leftists so thoroughly confuse being clever with being intelligent. That’s not always the case.

Meh. Playing an obtuse hypocrite is hardly “clever”.

Pilt is a piece of **** that I wouldn't take the time to piss on if he were on fire.

YEP.

They manufacture shit to sell books and college courses. And there's apparently no limit to the number of people who are willingly duped to guzzle the corresponding narratives that leftism screeches about. Literally purchased brains. pilt is a perfect example.

Nothing to do with Ebola. Everything to do with calling it the Chinese virus.

Neither travel ban is xenophobic, I have been pretty clear.

The smoking Biden gun is him calling Trump, someone who was referred to as a xenophobe by dems his whole four years, a xenophobe.

I'll cop to being a piece of shit, but I would never stoop so low as to instrumentalize my wife's trauma to win an internet argument.

Any day now I'm sure. I wonder if Cuomo screeching about it while sexually harrassing all the womens and killing all the grandmas.

Nancy Pelosi will no doubt be penning a strongly worded admonishment of the president’s racist actions

Calling it the China virus is not xenophobic. Xenophobia is distaste for a certain people or culture, not a point-of-origin landmass.

And, no, I’m sorry but you are rarely “clear” about anything you write. Everything you write is always open to interpretation. It’s one of your “charms” (or should I call it one of your frustrations?).

And it's precisely why I started this thread. It wasn't just Biden as you're well aware, so I'm waiting on the board's resident screechers to step up and screech about Biden's travel ban.

That's fine with me

"Pretty sure that is a Pelosi line and she rightfully got roasted for it." did I stutter?

Same thing to me. I don't like either one.
I don't like either one either. But, if I were forced to choose between a communist regime or a socialist one I would choose the socialist regime every time.

The thing that needs to be understood is socialism comes in many, many forms. The dictionary definition is "government ownership of all means of production." But our friend, Pilt, eschews that definition in favor of "Norway's socialism." Norway's socialism is far removed from the dictionary definition; it's more of a high tax welfare state in which the government doles out franchises to private oil companies to drill for oil in its area of the North Sea. It is a system that works very well for the 5 million Norwegians, 90+% of whom are white Lutherans and share a long history and singular culture. But Norway's socialism is not really close to what socialism claims it wants to be. Nevertheless Pilt claims it as his version of socialism.

The point is Pilt does not advocate for a hegemonic tyrannical communist regime ala Maoism or Castro-ism. I don't know if it's true that Pilt is an economics professor. But if he is he has surely read Hayek and von Mises and has been shown how even his "Norwegian socialism" eventually heads down the path of servitude to the government, what Hayek called "the road to serfdom." Pilt has rejected that analysis in favor of a benign interpretation of the goodness of government oversight of society. But IMO Pilt does not favor tyranny or authoritarianism per se. He envisions a milder, softer version of government power in which people willingly defer to their government overlords, willingly sacrifice liberty for the protection from outside forces by the state.

How'd I do, Pilt? Did I come close to explaining your version of socialism?
