Personally, I think it is more likely that he tries to take Cornyn's seat in 2020 than going for POTUS.

Pretty clear that candidates matter. Beto would not have come close if Cruz was more likable. Kind of like a certain POTUS we all know and love/hate.

Cruz suffered from an opponent that spent 70 million dollars and still lost. Pretty sure that the repubs in Texas will be more prepared next time

Of course the real problem is that the Dems have become the fat cat party and have so much money they can write million dollar checks for individual races at the blink of an eye
