Whats the best website to go to to build your own website? I've never done it. I've heard of Wix, but wanted some feedback on the ins and outs of doing this. Thanks

Spend a little money and use squarespace. its that I used for Clayton M's web page and it is really easy to get a page started and they have a lot of templates.

Neither. But a domain, host it somewhere cheap. Install Wordpress. Buy a home builder template. Hire someone for a small amount to customize the logo and images and start learning Wordpress as a hobby. You'll pick it up in no time and be able to manage the whole damn thing by yourself and you might actually enjoy it.

Varies widely. Wordpress is free. Templates may be free.

People that I trust usually run between 50-90 an hour.

# of pages/templates and function have the biggest impact on cost.

Also, avoid people that just grab up a bunch of plugins. They aren't worth the headache of constant updates. Not updating your plugins is the easiest (almost guaranteed) way to get hacked.

If the main goal of your site is to get more people to contact you and general brand awareness, squarespace is more than enough if you want to do it yourself.

Maybe a couple hundred dollars. Seems like a pretty simple project. You get what you pay for but if you buy a quality template and you're a local business you'll be fine.

I've used square space. A friend had a square space site and I helped them with it for awhile before porting it to Wordpress. I didn't care for it but to each their own of course!

Nexus is a very limited theme. The customization is nearly zero. I don't see the difference from squarespace.

Backing away from this thread.

Peace all.

No need to back away @Adverpoke. I'm not trying to argue. Just sharing my opinion.

There's nothing wrong with square space. It's only $18 a month and he'll have to pay for hosting anyway so it's not bad. I just don't prefer it.

I just like to have more control.

You can customize squarespace, they just wont support the template anymore.
