Best beach destinations w kids?

We went to st Petersburg by Tampa for a week. Kids loved it.

http://www.tradewindsresort.com. Lots of free activities daily. Plus Clearwater is close so you can take them to see the dolphin from the dolphin tale movies. Even took them on a pirate schooner tour to see dolphins

Destin area. Lots of stuff to do for kids of all ages. Stay east around Santa Rosa beach/ watercolor area and go back in to Destin when needed.

If you are looking for a drivable vacation we always enjoyed Galveston and Padre Island. It's not has nice has Florida but it's much closer and the kids will still have a lot of beach fun.

get in touch with southern, tell him you want to rent the buffett condo. great place for kids and grownups.

Get on VRBO and rent a house with a pool right on the beach. You can do the condo thing, but you can have a house like I mentioned for the same or a little more. Lots of golf courses, you can rent pontoon boats and drive around the bay or go to crab island, Baytowne Wharf is a fun for kids and adults. We drive down from Edmond every summer. It's a pretty easy drive. We'll be down there June 26th thru July 3rd.

I think we have had the most fun at Hilton Head island with the kids at the beach. We enjoyed it more than Destin. Get on vrbo to lease a condo. I think I paid around 1200 for a real nice 2 bed. The kids loved to ride bikes and they have a great rental program and trails all over the island. Great beaches out there too.

Some good places to eat but not much nightlife, of course we weren't looking for that. Fly into Savannah, spend one night there and visit the harbor area. They have some great resturants and its a cool old town. It's an hour drive to HHI from Savannah. Nice drive with all the giant pine trees. The golfing is great too. We went out on a catamaran for a cruise which was cool too.

I enjoyed it because it's a great place to go unwind and relax. We've been to the west coast many times and after dealing with the traffic and hustling all over to see Disney, universal studios, Rodeo, Santa Monica, San Diego, I feel like I need another vacation to rest up when I get back.

Dally - we were scheduled to go to destin, when the oil spill was in the gulf. Not wanting to take that chance - we got some advice to try St. Augustine. It's one the best vacations we've ever had with the kids. Tons of good beaches and the town is so interesting, because of the history. I bet you could vrbo on villano beach very reasonably.

Great golf and great restaurants as well. We kayaked the intercoastal and were literally able to touch Dolphins.

I would go back and I am far from a "beach" person.

Taking our 2 and 4 year old to Key Largo in two weeks. Hotel we're at has a smaller, but looks decent, private beach. Will drive up and down the keys and hit up different beach spots/parks. We'll see how that goes.....
