  1. Utah: Another solid win, over previously-unbeaten California, added to the Utah resume’. The Utes’ win at Oregon is losing luster, but its win over Michigan is gaining steam.
  2. Florida: Another solid win, at Missouri. Now the Gators play at LSU. Win that game, and Florida will be the runaway No. 1 team.
  3. Ole Miss: The longer Florida rides high, the better it looks for Mississippi.
  4. Michigan: Wow. A 38-0 win over a team (Northwestern) in the top 10 is impressive. Now the Wolverines host Michigan State in a battle royale.
  5. TCU: The Horned Frogs are living dangerously, with three road wins each by a touchdown or less, but road wins are resume’ builders.
  6. Clemson: The Tigers don’t have a ton of chances left to be impressive. Notre Dame, already, and Florida State, eventually, are about it.
  7. Alabama: You know, the SEC West champ’s schedule is going to get even tougher if Florida stays strong. We really weren’t expecting a national title contender coming out of the SEC East.
  8. Northwestern: The Wildcats looked overmatched against Michigan, but A) that was a road game, and B) those wins over Stanford and Duke remain impressive.
  9. Notre Dame: Irish’s national title hopes were hurt by Southern Cal’s loss to Washington. The Trojans aren’t as good as we thought they were, negating the chance for an impressive Irish victory.
  10. LSU: Iowa, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, all kinds of teams could land here. I went with the Tigers because the victory at Mississippi State now seems as impressive as anyone contending for the slot.
