I thought we were screwed. Fran walks by on his way to his seat at the scorer’s table. Great, we draw effing Fran as the color guy. Figured the poor fans watching at home better get ready for a couple of hours listening to Fran talk about how great T. Young is. Just a bad pregame vibe.
Then I spot the officiating crew including the small black ref who in his last game at GIA did a magnificent job of impersonating Ed Hightower. Made numerous bad calls and demanded the stage. To be fair, he was much better today.
The ref (crew chief) who T’d up Self (Doug, is his name, I believe) is a good guy and usually a solid ref. He did make a couple of horrendous calls in a row but made up for it all by nailing Self.
The third ref usually is pretty passive and just kind of watches. He was awful in the first half, especially on Mitch’s first foul call.
But, we overcame the bad omens and it was glorious to be there.
