I wish our fans would understand that the series record in Bedlam does not mean a thing to each individual game, especially in the context of the series as it is today. For about 40 years - roughly from the mid-40s to the mid-80s - there was a huge gap in talent that created doubt in the eyes of many Cowboy fans. But since the mid-1980s, the talent gap is massively smaller. In fact, on numerous occasions since 1984, OSU has at least been as good or had a better team than the Sooners.

But the bottomline is this: it’s not the same team each year facing off with one another. It’s different players and different teams each year. This year’s OSU team, most would agree, is better than OU. It’s better defensively, better coached, and, most importantly, more mature. I hope - unlike many of our fans - our players are not foolish enough to get caught up in the history of the rivalry. Because, to be honest, it means nothing come Saturday night.

Now, LET‘S GO POKES!
