Looking at possibly hooking the father-in-law up in the near future (maybe, still don't know). He has a standard crappy off-set smoker, but we are maybe considering upgrading his setup. He loves to use his smoker and makes a damn good brisket (I have him beat on ribs :) ). We are looking for an L-Shaped style of offset smoker.

Something that has the traditional horizontal cooking space, but with an additional vertical smoking/warming area. I have looked at popular brands like Gator Pits, Yoder, and Langs and have found that they have some models available, but all just don't seem to have "it all" that he would drool over.

Any of you guys and gals gotten large, thick-steel, offset smokers? Any to suggest that you have seen? We aren't, most likely, looking at going the custom route...

I just bought a Masterbuilt 30" electric smoker w/remote. I have several friends that also have Masterbuilt electric smokers, both in the 30" and 40" models. I really like it and everyone recommended it.

Got a Yoder Ys 640 pellet grill last year and it is the absolute bomb. I literally chunked my gasser in the trash. In last year's storms a free limb fell on it and only busted a wheel. It's a tank and smokes out of this world.

So none of you have any recommendations I assume...

My offset is like 30 years old. I'm thinking about replacing it or building one. Find something interesting, pass it on please.

I keep thinking reverse flow is the way to go though.

I have an Oklahoma Joe's that about 20 years old. Horizon Smokers in Perry makes the same design with 1/4 steel. Great to cook with and will last forever.

We've built three using offset and stacked designs. Our big one is offset and works great, but building a stack is super easy, cheap, and works awesome.

I bought a cookshak about 5 years ago. It works great for smoking under 20 lbs of meat. I had my doubts that it would cook as good as the old offset style but it does.
My only gripe is 4 slabs of ribs is about the max in my cooker.
