OK, this is a little weird for me. Hopefully I am known as one of Baylor's most enthusiastic critics. But as I was checking out their board and getting my weekly dose of chuckles and holy cow moments, I saw a thread thanking the CMB for honoring a member of the Baylor band who died recently as the result of a hit-and-run (sorry, I don't know the story).
Anyway, our band had posted a tribute to the young man on their Facebook page by playing The Baylor Alma Mater and several posters on Baylorfans added their appreciation and a few mentioned the difference of how they are treated here as visitors compared to how they are treated in Norman. They were very complimentary of our band, our school and our fans.
I was touched by their comments and was reminded that the sports our teams play against each other are, in fact, just games, and the young men and women we support are really just kids -- at least compared to geezers like me.
So, I believe we have a few posters who are CMB alums and wanted to be sure they saw the thread. It's a free board and guess it's alright to post a link.
